With the arrival of the Christmas holidays, numerous traditional nativity scenes were set up in the churches and oratories of Loano. Each reconstruction of the Nativity play is set in a scenic landscape. Alongside the canonical protagonists of the nativity scene are figures of popular characters and scenes from everyday life. Mechanical scenes are sometimes present.
Traditional nativity scenes have been set up at the Oratory of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary or ‘dei Turchini’ in Piazza Italia (from 8 December 2023 to 28 January 2024); in the parish of San Pio X in Via Bergamo (from 23 December 2023 to 2 February 2024); in the parish of Santa Maria Immacolata in Via dei Gazzi (from 23 December 2023 to 2 February 2024) at the Oratory of St. John the Baptist or ‘dei Bianchi’ in via Boragine (from 8 December 2023 to 28 January 2024); at the parish church of St. John the Baptist (from 23 December 2023 to 2 February 2024); at the convent of Monte Carmelo in via Costino di Monte Carmelo (open all year round).
Visiting the reconstructions of the Nativity set up in the town’s parishes, chapels and oratories, it will be possible to trace a true itinerary to discover the architectural and religious riches of Loano.
