Iulia Augusta

Built in 13 B.C. by the Emperor Augustus in order to connect Rome to southern Gaul, this specific stretch of the Iulia Augusta links Alassio to Albenga and takes about two hours to be completed. It starts in the S. Croce Square widely known for its beautiful view. The path continues among cypresses and eucalyptus trees until reaching Sant’Anna ai Monti, an ancient church supposedly built before the year one thousand. From here enjoy the enchanting view of Gallinara Island so named by the Romans due to the presence of wild hens.
